Pinduoduo was founded in 2015 and is China’s largest agriculture platform and the world’s largest online retail platform by active buyers.
In 2020, Pinduoduo recorded over 788 million active buyers, whom they connected directly to over 12 million farmers. It recorded a gross merchandise value of 1,590 billion DKK, of which 16%, or 261 billion DKK, comprised of agricultural products.
Pinduoduo’s aim is to become the world’s largest agriculture and grocery platform and make groceries sourced from around the world affordable and available to its users. It also shares the vision of contributing to China’s agricultural sector with technology. To
these ends, it is investing in agri food tech and looking into global investment opportunities in alternative proteins, food safety, and precision farming.
