Inno Talk: What’s behind ”The Big Climate Database”?

In the beginning of 2021, the organisation Concito launched a new open source database showing the climate impact of the 500 most used ingredients in Denmark. Since then, it has been debated, but still leaves questions and uncertainties, such as:

• How are the calculations made?
• Which parameters are included and which are not?
• The database is open source, but how in practice can companies benefit from using the database?
• Is there a risk that a new calculation method will be introduced in the future?

To get concrete answers to concrete questions, we have invited the expert Jannick Schmidt, the master mind behind the calculation method to share everything ”behind the scene” of the big database. This will also be your chance to ask questions regarding the choices made to get to these calculations.

About the expert:

Jannick Schmidt is a private consultant and partner in 2.-0 LCA consultants ApS, which is specialized in consulting within life cycle assessments. He has developed the calculation method and has combined all the data behind Concito’s big Climate Database. Jannick Schmidt is also an associate professor at Aalborg University, where he executes scientific studies, teaches and supervises. His area of expertise covers many aspects of life cycle assessments e.g. methodologies, data base development, modelling of the impact of gas emissions (greenhouse gasses and biodiversity), agronomy, food, bio fuels and other.

Inon Talk is an online, 30 minutes livestream from an expert with a focus on innovative aspects of the food industry, including climate transformation of the food industry. You can ask your questions live through the talk.
